Find a Student Organization

There are over 1,400 student organizations at Ohio State and over half of all students join a student organization. Students who choose to get involved achieve many positive outcomes - leadership skills, better grades, friendships and mentors, and make a big campus seem small. Use the tools below to search for, find, and get involved with student organizations.

You can also connect with many of our student organizations at our Student Involvement Fairs in August and January. Check out the Student Involvement Fairs webpage for the latest information.

For individualized assistance find the student organization that's right for you, schedule a Get Involved Consultation. These 30-minute meetings will provide a personalized list of recommendations based on your interests and aspirations.

Please consult this list of student organizations with revoked registration as of Spring 2024. Some organizations continue to operate after their registration has been revoked despite the action taken by the university. We encourage you to review an organization’s status before becoming involved with it, especially because sometimes an organization’s status is revoked due to serious concerns like hazing and other behavior that risks your health and safety.

Karatedo Doshinkan at Ohio State

Campus: Columbus
Status: Pending
Purpose Statement: At the Ohio State University Karatedo Doshinkan, we are committed to preserving and promoting Karatedo's profound legacy and teachings, a martial art with deep roots in the rich history of the Ryukyu Kingdom in Okinawa. Our practice is grounded in the foundational techniques, and Kata passed down by the late Hanshi 10th Dan Ichikawa Isao, embodying the spirit and discipline of our forebears, including the late Grand Master Toyama Kanken. Our dojo is a sanctuary for personal development and physical training, welcoming individuals of all ages and skill levels to explore the depth of Karatedo. Under the guidance of Shihan Dean Lillard, whose dedication to Karatedo has spanned from his university years through leadership roles at Cornell University to his current position at Ohio State, our club aims to foster a community where the harmony of mind, technique, and body is pursued. Through disciplined training, we strive not only for physical robustness and self-defense skills but also for the cultivation of character, aiming to perfect personal virtues in alignment with the core principles of Budo: courtesy, respect, and faith. In embracing the traditional weaponry and kata of Okinawan Kobudo, including the Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchaku, and Nicho-Gama, we connect with the historical essence of martial arts while adapting our teachings to the challenges of the modern world—the legacy of Hanshi 10. Dan Ichikawa Nobuo inspires us to evolve continually, enhancing our students' martial proficiency and personal integrity. At Karatedo Doshinkan at Ohio State, we believe in martial arts as a "business of service," where the pursuit of personal advantage is set aside in favor of cultivating a community of individuals committed to personal excellence and mutual respect. Our dojo is not just a place of physical training; it is a space where we honor our past, challenge our present, and build a legacy for the future, embodying the true spirit of Karatedo for generations to come.
