Position Description

Calling all involved Buckeyes! The Ohio Union and Student Activities team is seeking students who can share their involvement journey and experiences with new first year students during summer orientation. We are assembling a team of paid student staff to join the staff facilitators in leading the Get Involved sessions of orientation this summer from the end of May through the end of July. Get Involved Panel Assistants directly support summer orientation for new first year students by sharing their expertise and personal journey as an involved Ohio State student during presentation and panel sessions per week throughout orientation. Panelists will assist with presentation delivery and the overall hosting of the session from start to finish by distributing promo items and checking students in, contributing to the presentation and panel, and supporting the wrap-up process during each session.

Any undergraduate student, including graduating seniors, are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is looking for an easy and fun way to earn a small number of hours of paid employment per week and is excited to help the next generation of Buckeyes get involved.

This is a paid position at $13/hour and is located in-person at the Columbus campus.

  • It is expected that students scheduled for a session arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. and leave no earlier than 7:45 p.m.
  • A panelist should expect to schedule a minimum of 2 hours per week and a maximum of 8 hours per week of panelist time, which is calculated by number of panels one is scheduled for as each one is 2 hours per night of orientation (Monday-Thursday weekly).
  • Flexible scheduling of dates can be negotiated based on other summer commitments. The number of sessions and weekly hours are dependent on individual schedules and will be set in May when all team availability is collected.
  • Students wanting additional hours outside of the orientation sessions may request up to 4 hours per week of "project time" that supports the administrative needs and planning of the Get Involved program.
