Buckeye Service Connection
Thank you for your interest in the Buckeye Service Connection, a pre-enrollment program for first-year commuter students!
The Buckeye Service Connection (BSC) provides an opportunity for first-year commuter students to connect with the Ohio State and Columbus communities through hands-on volunteer service. Participants will build upon their familiarity with Columbus by volunteering at various nonprofit agencies across the city, as well as informal excursions and on-campus activities. Participants will have an opportunity to network with current student leaders and student organizations, and connect with campus and community resources for future involvement. The cost of the program includes transportation and meals during program activities.
The 2017 Buckeye Service Connection will take place July 19-21, 2017. The schedule includes:
- July 19, 10am-6pm - welcome and team building, lunch on campus, service project with Franklin Park Conservatory, tour and dinner at North Market
- July 20, 8:30am-7:30pm - breakfast on campus, service project with Columbus Recreation and Parks, lunch on campus, leadership development workshop, cooking class and networking dinner with current Ohio State students
- July 21, 8am-4pm - breakfast on campus, service project and lunch with LifeCare Alliance, tour of Buckeye Food Alliance, reflection and program closing
The cost to participate is $100 per person, and students may apply for scholarships to cover a portion or the entire fee.
