SACG is a community garden with volunteering opportunities in gardening, harvesting food, and donating to food pantries that are committed to feeding low-income communities and people experiencing homelessness. As food pantry and volunteer coordinators, we organize groups of volunteers to come to the garden and help out! For the upcoming growing season, we need volunteers to help us maintain the food pantry plots and work with the community & pantries to deliver donated produce. We welcome all volunteers and provide a way to give back to our community, while keeping Columbus green. We also welcome other creative ideas for community integration, food security, and garden beautification!

Hello, my name is Kevin Nahabakomeye and I am a co-leader at Fugees Academy Columbus. Fugees Academy was founded in the Atlanta area in 2006 with the goal of helping our society's most vulnerable people - child survivors of war and displacement - to rebuild their lives. Our model, which you can read more about by following the link, is based on love of soccer, high expectations, and structured support for the students we serve. Our afterschool tutoring program, which is mandatory for all students, is an important part of each day when kids can get homework assistance and practice with foundational skills before they go home for the evening. We are currently in search of volunteer tutors. Volunteers will work 1:1 or with small groups of 6th and 7th grade students, once per week, from 4pm-6pm at our school in the Northland area of Columbus. No experience tutoring is required, but you should have an awareness of positive work habits and study skills, and an interest in supporting the process - not just getting the work done. All tutors must pass a background check and participate in a short orientation before beginning work with the students. Individuals from international backgrounds are encouraged to apply, as it means a great deal to the students to see themselves reflected in the adults they look up to. Anyone interested should email: kevin@fugeesfamily.org with the subject line: INTERESTED IN TUTORING. Please include a resume, a couple of sentences to explain your “why” for wanting to join our team, and which day of the week (M-Th) you have available for this commitment.
