Strong leadership begins with self-awareness and self-reflection. Programs focused on Personal Exploration are designed to do just that - bolster your own understanding of your strengths, your areas for growth, and the unique way you can contribute as a leader.

Explore Your Values

In this interactive session, students will explore their own personal values. Students will do activities to help them identify their core values and reflect on both how those impact their lives and how they developed those values. Knowledge of your own personal values is critical to making decisions about what is best for you during your college experience, as values guide decisions with friends, classes, co-curricular activities, and even professional careers

Thank You for Coming to My TEDTalk: Public Speaking Basics

In this workshop, participating students will come to recognize themselves as public speakers. Through small-group practices in speaking, participating students will develop the confidence to share their ideas and better understand how to communicate those ideas with varying audiences. This workshop is ideal for students seeking practical tools to articulate themselves in new settings.

Don't Share That! Information Literacy and Social Work Ethics

While technology has significantly changed how we engage in democracy, this does not mean that our relationship with the truth must change as well. Many people find themselves unsure how to verify the accuracy of information they consume, particularly on social media platforms. Developing basic fact-checking skills and frameworks is an important foundation for meaningful political discourse.

Engaging Alumni as Mentors

This session will provide a framework for engaging alumni as mentors to students in your organization. Alumni are eager to connect with current students and provide guidance through their Ohio State experience and career development. The presenter will highlight campus and virtual resources to connect with alumni, in addition to providing guidance on developing a structured mentoring program to meet the needs and interests of mentors and mentees.

True Colors and Cupcakes 

5-6:30pm 

IN PERSON: Keith B. Key Center Lounge (Ohio Union)

Participants will get to learn more about themselves through the True Colors assessment, which will be useful for students to understand as they consider future involvement, volunteer, or career opportunities. You will also get to decorate cupcakes with icing that matches their true color to have a hands on (and tasty!) experience!

Leadership and Vulnerability

In this workshop, students will learn to embrace discomfort and vulnerability as strengths. College students are exposed to many opportunities to develop their leadership efficacy, through student organizations, community service, and even academic engagements like research or living-learning communities. By embracing vulnerability, students will feel empowered to be their authentic selves which will translate into better outcomes both personally and professionally.

Learn about the Dean's Leadership Academy 

VIRTUAL

Within the Dean’s Leadership Academy (DLA), you will develop essential leadership skills, hone your self-awareness and leadership effectiveness, gain real-world leadership experience and connect with a community of driven and inclusive leaders. All Ohio State undergraduate students* with a declared major and a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ are eligible to enroll. We will be offering 15-minute 1:1 sessions with students who are curious about this program during Leadership Week.
