Navigating Networking: How to Handle Happy Hour

Networking can be a critical component of career development and wellness, especially for graduate and professional students. However, the prospect of networking can sometimes lead to nervousness, apprehension, and uncertainty about expectations. This session will consist of a facilitated dialogue among graduate and professional students that is designed to encourage meaningful conversation and relationship-building while providing tips and strategies for effectively navigating professional networking events such as happy hour, dinners, receptions and more.

Leadership and Vulnerability

In this workshop, students will learn to embrace discomfort and vulnerability as strengths. College students are exposed to many opportunities to develop their leadership efficacy, through student organizations, community service, and even academic engagements like research or living-learning communities. By embracing vulnerability, students will feel empowered to be their authentic selves which will translate into better outcomes both personally and professionally.

Learn about the Dean's Leadership Academy 

VIRTUAL

Within the Dean’s Leadership Academy (DLA), you will develop essential leadership skills, hone your self-awareness and leadership effectiveness, gain real-world leadership experience and connect with a community of driven and inclusive leaders. All Ohio State undergraduate students* with a declared major and a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ are eligible to enroll. We will be offering 15-minute 1:1 sessions with students who are curious about this program during Leadership Week.
