Are you ready to learn and grow as a leader? Leadership Week is a university-wide celebration of leadership development. All sessions are open to all students – undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, from all of our campuses, but target audiences have been specified. All sessions fit into one or more of the five themes of Leadership Week: Career Development, Community Engagement, Inclusion, Personal Exploration, and Wellness. Explore Your Values

In this interactive session, students will explore their own personal values. Students will do activities to help them identify their core values and reflect on both how those impact their lives and how they developed those values. Knowledge of your own personal values is critical to making decisions about what is best for you during your college experience, as values guide decisions with friends, classes, co-curricular activities, and even professional careers

Building a Career Vision for Undergraduate Students

Buckeyes Got Your Back

This session aims to inform the campus about intervention approaches to prevent violence. Participants will learn techniques for intervening in varying levels of potentially harmful situations and learn the importance of intervening at all levels. Participants can take the intervention styles quiz which will help determine their most comfortable intervention style and practice using their most comfortable style.

Buckeyes Making Space: Leadership Strategies for Creating Welcoming and Inclusive Organizational Communities

One of the many great things about Ohio State is the opportunity to live and learn with others from all across the state, nation, and the world! This highly interactive workshop focuses on making space for new ideas, approaches, and perspectives from the group that can take our student organizations to the next level. During the session, the group will discuss the importance of making space, explore strategies for creating inclusive and welcoming environments, and share stories of what works for making space for others.

Navigating Networking: How to Handle Happy Hour

Networking can be a critical component of career development and wellness, especially for graduate and professional students. However, the prospect of networking can sometimes lead to nervousness, apprehension, and uncertainty about expectations. Good Trouble; Honoring John Lewis through Social Change and Political Mobilization

HYBRID (IN PERSON AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS)

The panel honors the life and legacy of Humanitarian and Activist, John Lewis. Participants will examine a few of Congressman Lewis' pivotal contributions to the Civil Rights movement. Students will engage in personal introspection and critical thinking activities.  They will also be given strategies on how to mobilize persons according to common interests while considering a wide spectrum of socio-economic, political, and religious identities. The session gives particular emphasis to courage, collective work, civic engagement, political responsibility, and personal accountability.  Certain testimonials from Congressman Lewis' close friends, colleagues, and mentees will be included.

Uncovering Microaggressions in Fraternity/ Sorority Life and Higher Education

Many Fraternity/Sorority communities are working toward creating a more equitable and just chapter/council cultures. Sometimes it can be easy to identify when something is offensive and sometimes it can be hard to notice. Together let’s uncover microaggressions, which are often the result of unconscious biases in the dominant culture, and frequently cause harm (intended and unintended). Effectively addressing microaggressions in Fraternity/Sorority Life can help dismantle systems of oppression and create inclusive spaces for members and potential new members. In this session, we will examine different types of microaggressions that affect Fraternity/Sorority Life and Higher Education settings as well as identify some microaggressions we might be responsible for using without knowing it.

Learn about the Dean's Leadership Academy 

VIRTUAL

Within the Dean’s Leadership Academy (DLA), you will develop essential leadership skills, hone your self-awareness and leadership effectiveness, gain real-world leadership experience and connect with a community of driven and inclusive leaders. All Ohio State undergraduate students* with a declared major and a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ are eligible to enroll. We will be offering 15-minute 1:1 sessions with students who are curious about this program during Leadership Week.
